Saturday the Vista PEAK Bison Futures defeated the Hinkley Thunderbirds 18-2, to move their record to 2-0. The windy and cold weather stalled both teams’ offenses in the first half as the Bison lead 6-2 going in to halftime. The first score came on the opening drive as the tough Bison line created some holes for the backs and Jesse Kane scored from 6 yards out. Hinkley got the ball and their RB squirted through the line and ran 60 yards but was caught and tackled at the 1 foot line by Dre Cooper-Jackson. The defense then held firm causing the Hinkley offense to go backwards for 4 straight plays giving the ball bask to VP.
In the second half the defense remained strong and caused numerous turnovers and tackles for loss. The Offense got things rolling a bit as Dre scored on a QB run and Trenton Sullivan set up a score by Terris Griffis by sprinting for a 55 yard run.
Offensive MVP for the game was Kyvae Stuart for his consistency on the line and Dre got the Defensive MVP for his TD saving tackle.
The Bison don’t play next week but return to action on on April 28 when they host the Aurora Central Trojans at 9 am at Vista PEAK.
