I spent the majority of the day officiating the discus so some of what follows is from peering through results and anecdotal info from head coach for the day, coach Roy.
We had one City Champion when all was said and done as Raina Branch won the high jump with a jump of 5-6 followed by soon to be basketball all star Mikayla Jones with a 5th place finish. They dynamic duo also teamed up in the 100m with a 3rd place and 10th place finish respectively. Two other notable top 20 finishes were a 19th by freshman Jadelynn Strasser and 15th by Lainey Morris with a new PR.
Two top 15 finishes came in the 200m by the hands of Strasser in 10th followed closely by Imani Wilburn in 12th both with PR performances. Aiyanah Munyororo finished in 18th.
In the 400m it was Kamryn Scott with a 3rd place finish and Myca Thomas finishing 12th overall. Double the 400 and you’ll find Angie Rivera where she finished 6th overall. Scott lead off the 4×4 with a strong leg and Rivera brought it home helping the team place third overall.
One the guys side it was Rashawn Brown leading 4 VP tracksters through the 100m, Dylan Jackson, Chris Johnson and Jadyn Neville.
In the 200m it was 400m specialist Teon Thomas getting in some speed work followed by Dylan and Qua’Veon Davis. Jordan Stewart dropped down from the 800m to follow Thomas’ 55.8 debut with a 58.6 of his own.
Andrew Martin proved he put in some good skill work in the shot put this week with a new PR and a top 20 finish. Martin followed that up with a 12th place throw in the discus.
