Coed Junior Varsity Track, Coed Varsity Track · VP Women’s Track take 8 titles at CO 7 Championships

The Vista Peak Women’s track and field team crowned 8 champions at Saturday’s CO 7 Championships. They wanted to rewrite their performance in this meet and rewrite the record books they did. Last years 5th place 56 point finish was replaced with this years 2nd place 150 point team finish!

Of special note were two “Double” champions in Maya Evans who won the 100m and 200m and Imelda Chavez who won the 1600m and 3200m.

Angie Rivera was the 800m champion in new meet record time. The team fell one race short of sweeping the individual track events as Kamryn Scott finished second in the 400m with a new personal record. Senior Aaliyah Carter was also a 2nd place finisher in the 100m as she fought back to take 8 big points. In the hurdles it was junior Allie Johnston who broke the 50 second barrier in the 300mh for a 2nd place finish.

In the relays the VP Women won 3 of the 4 relays they were entered in as they took the sprint medley, 4x100m, 4x400m and placed second in the 4x200m. Senior Val Nelson was instrumental in both the sprint medley and 4x400m relays.

Freshman Erica Paul set a new school record and placed second with a monster throw in the shot put. The JV team also had a spectacular day as they finished 2nd in team scoring.
